Google's parent company Alphabet also announced 12,000 layoffs.



Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai informed employees of the company's downsizing decision in an email Friday, saying the cuts will affect 6 percent of Alphabet's workforce worldwide.


Sundar Pichai said that during the last two years, we have seen the company grow and have recruited many people but now the situation is different, he takes full responsibility for the decisions that led to the current situation, which is unsatisfactory.

Google's move comes after Microsoft and Amazon announced a total of 28,000 layoffs, with Microsoft announcing 10,000 and Amazon 18,000 a few days ago.
